When talking about famous celebrities, we only think about sheer glitz and glamor. But would you believe that some of them also hide skeletons in their closets? Yes, actually there are a good number of them who were convicted of crimes in the past. Here’s a list of the top 5 famous celebrity ex-cons and arrests:

1. Tim Allen

Tim Allen was arrested in 1978 for illegal possession of cocaine. He was supposed to be sentenced to a life in prison, however, he turned state’s evidence by pinpointing his cohorts. Because of this, he was only sentenced 5 years in prison and was paroled after 2 and a half years.

2. Al Pacino

The great gang leader and the foreboding head villain in many films was actually arrested in 1961 for carrying a concealed weapon. However, the charges was later dropped when 21 year-old Al Pacino told the police that the weapon was a prop he would be using for his acting job.

3. Larry King

Larry King is known today as one of the premier broadcast interviewers in the US. He is an award-winning TV personality who has won the Peabody Awards, Emmy Awards, and Cable ACE Awards. He’s the host of the nightly interview TV program Larry King Live on CNN. Despite his accomplishments, however, Larry King also also had a run-in with controversies and criticisms–one is when he said that Miss Pennsylvania was the ugliest contestant in the 1990 Miss America pageant. Aside from this, King was also accused of making a lot of comments that are discriminating. But what people barely know about him is that back in 1971, King was actually arrested in Miami for larceny.

4. Winona Ryder

It seems that no matter how rich and famous celebrities are, some of them cannot resist secretely putting some items into their bags. One of these celebrities is Johnny Depp’s former flame Winona Ryder. She was arrested in 2001 for shop lifting in Beverly Hills. She was accused of stealing $5,500 worth of accessories and designer clothes at a Saks Fifth Avenue department store.

5. Yasmine Bleeth

Yasmine Bleeth became famous for the role Caroline Holden in the long-running series Baywatch. She was arrested when she was caught driving under the influence and when the police found syringes with an injectable cocaine in her hotel room. In 2002, she was sentenced to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service.

Some of these celebrities were convicted of crimes before they became famous, while others committed crimes during the peak of their popularity. There are two sides to this story: one is how they managed to rise to popularity after an arrest or conviction, the other is having to break a luminous career with a life of crime.
